Studio Ghibli Little Nemo pitch

Amazing pilot on Little Nemo done by Studio Ghibli in 1984. Eventually the movie came to light in 1992. Really amazing camera moves without the help of any kind of computers. Wish the actual movie was this good!

Nice find! I saw a shorter version of this pilot film (with the intro bit missing) when it was posted on Cartoon Brew a couple of years ago. The people over there had a lot of background info on this version of Nemo.

This 1984 pilot was directed by Yoshifumi Kondo, who would go on to working at Studio Ghibli (established in 1985) as Isao Takahata’s right-hand man. Kondo eventually to direct for Ghibli on Whisper Of The Heart, and I’m sure that he would have made more movies if he had not died in 1997.

Animation director was Kazuhide Tomonaga, who animated a lot of action sequences in the 80′s. Daniel Thomas MacInnes says that Tomonaga animated the car chase from Castle of Cagliostro, the destruction of the floating city in Castle in the Sky, and the original opening to Batman: The Animated Series.
