Update: So I called Royal /T today (04/13) and got their automated response. The female voice (maid?) over the phone informed me that the cafe wont be open till May! So, two more weeks…..of curiosity. I’ll keep posting with more updates as they come. Maybe they delayed the opening because they’re importing them from Akiba?

A little piece of Akiba is coming to the Los Angeles area come April 14th. Royal /T Cafe is having their grand opening this Saturday in Culver City. It is considered to be the first maid cafe in the Southern California region. Now Los Angelinos will have the opportunity to experience a little bit more of the otaku experience. Royal /T will also encompass a shop and art gallery as part of its venue. Possibly to appeal to customers other than the otaku crowd.

From what it seems…it sounds like a temporary gimmick and I’m not too sure how long this’ll last. I would like to see if customs and treatment is the same as in Japan. Either way, I’m curious to see what they have to offer and expect a review in the near future!
