Wonder Festival Summer 2009
Now I know I’m a bit late on the barrage of pictures from Wanfesu but let’s just hope that these images are the ones that nobody else took while there. I tried to look for more of the unique and eccentric garage kits and models. The convention itself was amazing and would recommend anyone to go, if you can spare the money, time and SDCC (as it occurs during Comic-con). It’s baffling to know that these are not giant corporate conglomerates making this kits, but private small circles. You start to wonder how craptacular everything is here in the states and how we don’t nurture this type of art.
It seemed like the figure boom is in session now. Private circles are making their own figures, we’re not talking about static figures but poseable ala figma/revoltech. Yes, the company won’t make the toy you want or it’s a crappy mold….MAKE IT YOURSELF!!!
We’ll enough of my rambles, enjoy the pictures! I must apologize as I’m not that good at taking pictures so excuse the blurry ones.
One circle was selling some Cat Shit One kits. I picked up the last one of this, lucky!
This circle had a Pretenders Transformers kit of Metal Hawk. I know Derrick is swooning for this right now.
Paper dioramas that you can download and make for your Revoltech Gurren Lagann figures.
Gloomy Bear mascot. Was acting like the characters itself.
Gainax booth.
Medicom.
The black Pooh bear is designed by Hiroshi Fujiwara and will be out in November for around 80$
Street Fighter IV. The C. Viper looked really nice.
T’s System figure kits.
Some cosplay.
K-ON! Nendroid figures. GSM eventually had to form a queue just to take pictures!
ES Gokin Series.
There was a small corner in the industry hall where some artist had crafts of pens and other items for sale.
WF excluseive Alice from Odin Sphere.
Yamato’s Velvet with Gwendolyn announcement in the back.
Once circle was selling Gut’s sword from Berserk. The item was crafted out of foam core and light enough to be held in one hand. It was on sale for around 500$ USD.
Interchangeable Monhun kits.
Gaiking figures from M.O.W. A Hong Kong company.
Sacchan
Weapons replicas were also to be found.
Don’t know what this is from…anybody?
Casshern.
Pretty awesome Samus figure.
Vispo’s Rider with bike.
I think this is from EVA 2.0….?
Metal slug kits!
Found a circle where someone built mechs out of legos.
Of course Dimension Diver was pretty popular.
Sculptor’s table who’s doing the Jojo figures. Looking forward to Killer Queen next year.
High School of the Dead.
Canti figure kit. The guitar and cape came seperately.
Uplark booth.
Little bit of Touhou Project action.
Kannagi.
These Rockman figure kits where only about and inch tall!
That’s pretty much my first Wonder Festival. It was definitely worth going to and hope that I can go to more in the future!

The muskets and musket sword are from Space Captain Harlock.
Thanks for identifying them!
Cat Shit one is like Metal Gear Solid meets cute animals killing each other off with deadly weapons
