Comiket-Day 3 (Happy New Year!)

Ummm…..porn?
That pretty much the summary of what the third day is. For those who are unaware, the third day is the most busiest day of the three days. The raging opressed hormones of thousands of otakus running left and right to get their favorite doujinshi drives this crazy day. As more me, I decided to skip the queues and just go in at a normal time. I wasn’t die hard enough to wait over night but that also meant that I had a high chance of not getting the books that I wanted.
The queue to get in wasn’t that bad. I waited for about 45 minutes before the line started to move. From the last post you couldn’t really tell the amount of people in line due to the rain. So here’s a better image.
Going in, I head straight for the west hall where Taka Tony’s circle booth was. I wasn’t too surprised that there was another queue to line up for. Since this was my first comiket, I decided to queue for the release just for the experience. Afterwards, I headed straight for Shingo’s table in the east hall and started my hunting. After finishing up, I had lunch with a friend and headed for the cosplay area.
I love Moyashimon! Didn’t take much pictures because you had to constantly ask to take them, which gets daunting after awhile. The megaman cosplayers took the punch this year as my favorite. After the cosplayers, the end was pretty much near in sight. So I just meandered around looking at stuff till the end until going home to watch the end of the year K-1 special!
And finally, last but not least….the schwag:
In front of my dirty clothes, is a special coffee they only sell at Big Sight. Coffee from the Holy Land!
So wrapping it all up, Comiket is amazing but it’s definitely not for everyone, especially for the otaku’s back home. I’d definitely recommend it to the more informed american otaku. And if you’ve only been touched by the mainstream stuff, I’d say wait awhile before coming. Know this culture, inform yourself, and that way, when you do end up making your pilgrimage, you’ll appreciate it a lot more. As for me, I think this is the beginning of many to come and mecca is only a plane ride away!
