Comiket-Day1

December 31st, 2007

My pilgrimage to mecca is now complete! Comiket was in so many words; amazing, overwhelming and tiring. I wouldn’t recommend it to everyone though, only to those who know what its about and ready to deal with enormous army which is otaku. So here’s a breakdown of my first day. (Due to safety rules at Comiket, photography inside the convention is not recommended, thus for the scarce number of pictures.)

Early morning, I headed for Big Sight where the intended plan was to meet up with Shingo from HD. Once getting to the station, we headed straight for the line where we were greeted by the wet weather and a sea of heads.

I’ve never seen this many people in my life line up for anything. I was simply in awe that all these people were here for the same event that I was. Two hours later, the line started moving and we slowly shifted our way to the Big Sight. Everything was so organized and efficiently managed in terms of the queues execution. Only in Japan could this be done so well. If this were the states, you would definitely hear whining or see some disgruntled attendee complaining about how they’ve waited for hours and how they deserve some privileges for compensation….but I digress.

We ended up at the west hall first where the industry booths had event only items for sale. This is where the group divided and everyone went their own way. As the rest of the group lined up to procure their items, I was pretty much at a loss due to my lack of information. So I basically did what I do best, wander around. I’ll help by stopping there. ^^;

After strolling and bumping into other people, I headed to the HD meet up. Sadly, I wasn’t able to attend the after party due to prior engagements with friends. So thats pretty much it….my first day at Comiket. I would say that this day would be the buffer for what was to happen on the third day. Ah, yes the third day, a post will come for that soon. (T_T)
On a side note, while waiting in line, I noticed the number of girls there were exponentially higher then the number of guys. We’re not talking about nerdy girls or the fat cosplaying chicks that everyone likes to make fun of either. I’m talking about very attractive women waiting in line for their dirty dirty dirty boys love doujinshi…
